Meet Keyon, he is 10 years old and was born in Nevis with sickle cell anemia. He is a kind and playful child that enjoys collecting Nascars and playing with his siblings. During a sickle cell flare up, Keyon suffered acute chest syndrome and was hospitalized. The hospital in Nevis did not have the adequate equipment and resources to effectively diagnose and treat his condition. As a result of this, Keyon's condition worsened and he suffered a stroke which rendered him unconscious.

During the course of his treatment, there was the absence of the appropriate oxygen mask needed to administer a sufficient amount of oxygen. Keyon was then transferred to a hospital in Barbados and then ultimately to Atlanta, Georgia in hopes of receiving further medical assistance. Once consciousness was regained, the severity of Keyon's injures were revealed. Keyon had lost his ability to see and required physical therapy to regain the ability to effectively walk and feed himself. His injuries could have been prevented if essential equipment and resources were present at the medical facility in Nevis.
